Tesla has rolled out its latest software update, version 2025.8.4, introducing a suite of enhancements aimed at elevating the driving experience. Here’s a breakdown of the standout features:

1. Standard Ride & Handling in Autopilot

For owners of the new Model 3 Performance, Autopilot now automatically switches to Standard Ride & Handling mode upon activation. This adjustment ensures a smoother and more comfortable journey.

While this feature is enabled by default, drivers can opt out by navigating to Controls > Dynamics > Use Standard Ride & Handling in Autopilot.

2. Steer-by-Wire Enhancements

Cybertruck enthusiasts will appreciate the improved steer-by-wire system. The steering wheel now offers feedback that dynamically adjusts to various road surfaces, providing a more intuitive and responsive driving feel.

3. Adjust Ride Height via Tesla App

Managing the Cybertruck’s air suspension has become more convenient. Owners can now modify the ride height directly from their smartphones. To utilize this feature, ensure your phone key is paired and connected, and update to Tesla App version 4.42.5 or later. Access this function by selecting Controls > Ride Height within the app.

4. Minor Updates Across Models

Tesla has introduced several subtle yet impactful improvements:

  • Energy Consumption Tracking: Drivers can now review energy usage over the last 10, 100, or 200 miles (15, 150, or 300 kilometers) in the Consumption section of the Energy app. There’s also an option to clear this history.
  • Cabin Radar Integration: Select Model Y vehicles from 2022-2024 will see their first-row cabin sensing system updated to utilize cabin radar, aligning with the standard in new 2025 Model Ys.
  • Enhanced Battery Estimates: The battery’s energy estimate now adapts based on individual vehicle usage patterns, offering more accurate range predictions without altering the total available battery energy.
  • Battery Health Test: Owners can perform a Battery Health Test to assess energy retention compared to the battery’s original capacity. This test may recalibrate energy estimates, potentially affecting displayed range. Navigate to Controls > Service > Battery Health to initiate.
  • Security Enhancements: This update incorporates vital security fixes and improvements to bolster vehicle safety.

Tesla’s commitment to continuous improvement is evident in this update, offering both major enhancements and nuanced refinements to enrich the driving experience.
