The Unconventional DoorDash Driver
Robert, a proud Cybertruck owner, recently shared his bizarre delivery experience on the Cybertruck Owners Only Facebook group.
According to him, he took his $100,000 Cybertruck for a DoorDash shift, drove off-road into dense sagebrush, and ended up scratching his vehicle—all for a mere $12 payout.
What Happened?
While detailing his experience, Robert wrote:
“I drove DoorDash last night (it’s for punishment), and I ended up going off-road into the sagebrush. A lot of sagebrush got stuck underneath, which was pretty noisy and screechy. When I came out, I flew down the freeway (it was 12 a.m., so no vehicles were injured).”
After running his Cybertruck through a car wash, Robert noticed that the scratches on the plastic panels remained visible, while the stainless steel body held up well.
Despite the damage, he shrugged it off, mentioning that his Cybertruck was never meant to be a “pavement princess“—unlike his Tesla Roadster.
Why Is a Cybertruck Owner Doing DoorDash?
Naturally, people were puzzled as to why someone with such an expensive vehicle would be making deliveries. Robert’s reasoning? Self-punishment for ordering McDonald’s.
“If I go to McDonald’s, I have to DoorDash my meal (e.g., get a Big Mac meal for $13.00), and I pretty much have to deliver two DoorDash orders painstakingly.”
According to Robert, every time he caves in and buys fast food, he forces himself to complete DoorDash deliveries until he earns back the money he spent.
“You make about $6 per trip. I have no clue how DoorDash drivers make any money (much less me with my Cybertruck). I’m clearly losing money just on wear and tear and waste of my time.”
Despite the impracticality of using a $100,000 truck for low-paying deliveries, Robert says this is his personal strategy to control his fast-food habits. He even applies a similar approach to social media usage, committing to 10 burpees for every 10 minutes he spends online.
