2 Big News: Tesla Launches in Saudi Arabia AND Unveils a New Cheaper Cybertruck Variant

Tesla fans, today’s news is BIG — and it’s coming in fast.

In a one-two punch that’s shaking up the EV world, Tesla has:

  1. Officially launched in Saudi Arabia
  2. Revealed a brand-new Cybertruck trim: the Long Range Rear-Wheel Drive

Let’s break down what this all means — and why it’s more exciting than you might think.

1. Tesla Officially Launches in Saudi Arabia

For the first time ever, Tesla is selling vehicles directly in Saudi Arabia. No more gray imports or third-party deliveries — this is the real deal.

Tesla’s arrival kicks off with the newly refreshed Model 3 and Model Y, giving Saudi drivers access to two of the world’s most popular EVs. And it’s not stopping there…

2. Introducing: The Long Range RWD Cybertruck

Here’s the big surprise: Tesla also announced the upcoming launch of a Long Range Rear-Wheel Drive (RWD) Cybertruck — set to hit the Saudi market in late 2025.

This isn’t just a single-motor version of the original — it’s a lighter, more budget-friendly version of the truck that’s been dominating headlines since late 2023.

Let’s compare this new version to the others:

Variant Range Towing Weight 0–100 km/h Top Speed Clearance
LR RWD 350 mi 3,402 kg 2,775 kg 6.6s 112 mph 243mm
LR AWD 325 mi 4,990 kg 3,009 kg 4.3s 112 mph 406mm
Cyberbeast 320 mi 4,990 kg 3,113 kg 2.7s 130 mph 406mm

Yes, the RWD is slower and less rugged, but that’s the point — it’s a Cybertruck for people who don’t need all the extra bells and whistles.

No Air Suspension, No Rear Screen — And That’s Okay

The Long Range RWD Cybertruck doesn’t come with air suspension or a rear screen — and that’s by design. Tesla is clearly targeting:

  • Work truck buyers
  • Budget-conscious EV fans
  • Drivers who just want a tough, cool-looking electric truck without going full Cyberbeast

It’s even launching with new 18” wheels with Cybertruck-themed hex-style aero covers — another subtle nod to utility and style.

And while pricing hasn’t been revealed yet, this trim is expected to be the most affordable version of the Cybertruck so far.

Will It Come to North America?

It’s not official yet, but since Giga Texas is producing this trim, it’s very likely that it will be available in North America soon after the Middle East launch.

Tesla’s move to introduce this variant in Saudi Arabia first might be a strategic way to build buzz while working through regulatory hurdles in the U.S.

Would you drive the Long Range RWD Cybertruck if it came to your country?
